KEYS TO REACHING YOUR FITNESS GOALS

The New Year bring lots of New Years Resolution and promises that are often never achieved. Follow the simply guidelines set below to  reach your goals and beyond!

Goals

It helps if you have a set fitness goal to work towards. This can be both short and long term goals. The short-term goal can be set weekly/monthly; ultimately this is baby steps that leads you to your long term goal. These goals help you to focus on the task and keep you motivated.

Structured Workout Plan

You need a structured workout plan, so each time you step into the gym you know exactly what you need to do. This should be detailed on a program card where you can make a note of each workout and assess your Workouts by seeing your progress. Ensure you detail any changes or increases you make to your program, these are keys to your progress.

Progression

Your workouts must be progressive, as your body quickly adapt, therefore you must always look to move your program on by increasing intensity e.g. speed, level or increasing the resistance. Avoid increasing your workout time, the key is to increase intensity.

Maximise your workout time

The key to a good workout and ensuring your not in the gym for two hours at a time. You must Maximising your workout time .So the key here is to stick to your structured workout plan, which should be between 30-45min,no longer than one hour. Remember the key is increasing intensity not   time.

How Often

Ideally you should be aiming for three times per week for approximately 30-45minute per session. This can vary depending on your goal and training experience.

Rest

Don’t underestimate the importance of resting.
Rest and recovery are keys to your success just as much as an intense workout. Your body needs time to recover and repair itself after a tough workout. More is not better and over training will result in you not wanting to be at the gym and ultimately not reaching your goals.

Nutrition

Nutrition is a vital part of your training success. This is both true went wanting to lose body fat or gain muscle .If your not feeding your body the right nutrients then reaching your goals will be very difficult.

Patience

One of the biggest keys it to be patience when working towards a goal. It just doesn’t happen over night, but I guarantee if your consistent with your workouts and they are progressive you will reach your goal in good time, but you must be patient, there really is no quick fix.

Don’t forget we are here to help you every step of the way

Lady’s Close House

Having looked carefully at the capital development needs of the school and the level of funding currently available to us, we now intend to focus our energy on restoring Lady's Close House.

This is the most historic building on the school site and is central to every girl's development at WGGS. Lady's Close is the Y7 base, where pupils have their own space and Form Rooms. The girls have special affection for the building because it represents the start of their careers at WGGS. The grand old house is also the home of the English Department.

The building is well over 100 years old and is in dire need of modernisation and refurbishment. We have ambitious plans to recapture the splendour and elegance of its history, while incorporating the technology and physical improvements that will bring Lady's Close House into the 21st century in appropriate WGGS style.
