Validate –Proof of Age Card

This is a scheme organised through the Home Office via Hertfordshire County Council Trading Standards Office. The aim is to provide a Voluntary Proof of Age card to ensure that restricted goods are only sold to those old enough to purchase them. It also helps those that look younger to prove their age. There is information about the scheme at www.validateuk.co.uk

However it does need a current photo of the student, information on the student’s name & date of birth, all of which are validated by staff in the school. That information is then sent to Herts County Council, who send it securely to ‘Validate UK’ for card production.

We are taking current photos and collating this information with the aim of ordering cards for all of our year 12 students. If you do not want your daughter to participate in this scheme, then you can ‘OPT OUT’ by writing a letter to Miss Souley or Miss Conway confirming this, within the next 7 days.

Obviously it may be several weeks before the cards are produced, so they would be issued to the students later this term.
