Iceland
The Geography Department first visited Iceland in 1999, and in recently we have joined up with Watford Grammar School for Boys for our visits and enjoyed 2 successful trips in October 2005 and 2007. Our accommodation was in south west Iceland in Skalholt. During our visits we toured with guides from “Discover the World” who provide us with a wealth of interesting local knowledge. Highlights of our programme include a trip to the Geysir geothermal area, viewing amazing waterfalls and glaciers, walking around volcanic caters, going up on ice caps in snow buses, swimming in geothermal pools including the Blue Lagoon and witnessing the spectacular Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. We are planning another joint trip to Iceland in October 2009.

We visit several landforms and landscapes of geographical interest, including waterfalls and glaciers.
