Please read below messages from Mrs Clare Wagner

and Mr Percy McCloskey - Chair of Governors

Dear All,

It is with great sadness that I have decided to leave the school for personal reasons. The exit statement that will be issued to all members of the school community is below. I am sorry that I am unable to say goodbye to you in person. Thank you for welcoming me to the school so warmly and for all that you do for the girls here every day. Congratulations on the brilliant examination results! I wish you well for the coming academic year and for the future.

Best wishes,

Clare Wagner

Mrs Wagner has taken the decision not to return to school in September in order to provide support to a family member, who is undergoing very serious surgery. She felt it would be inappropriate to ask the school for extended leave. The governing body has been in discussion with Mrs Wagner in relation to this matter and is supportive of this difficult decision. Governors have taken steps to ensure the school will be well led as we enter the new academic year.

Mrs Wagner is very proud of all that has been achieved by everyone in the school. She has great affection for the girls and the staff and will miss them very much.

She wishes everyone at Watford Grammar School for Girls every success in the future, which she will follow with interest.

Arrangements from September will be that Miss Sylvia Tai the current deputy head will be appointed as an acting headteacher. The current senior team will be expanded to give the necessary support to Miss Tai. Consideration is also being given to the use of an experienced head teacher to mentor and support Miss Tai.

The governors will be initiating the process of finding a replacement head teacher and will aim to make an appointment by the end of the next academic year.

As a governing body we are very confident that these arrangements will provide stable and effective leadership and management of our great school.

Percy McCloskey

Chair of Governors
