Dear Parents and Carers

This week I would like to address all the fathers of girls here at school. Since my arrival, I have been impressed by your full and enthusiastic engagement in the education of your daughters. You are frequent attenders at Parents’ Consultation Evenings and also at the many concerts and school events that are held on a regular basis. You are great supporters of the school and it is always a pleasure to meet you and to hear your thoughts and ideas. Some of you may have heard about the Dads4Daughters Campaign that was launched earlier this year in order to promote gender equality in the workplace. If you would like to read more about it you can follow this link: http://dads4daughters.uk/.

In addition, and on a different yet related note, here in Watford, Herts County Council are running a Dads’ parenting course at Beechfield Children’s Centre. The course is entitled Time Out for Dads.  Bookings are currently being taken for the free, 6 week course that begins after half term. These popular courses are for all dads, step-dads and male carers who would like to find out a bit more about what children actually want from their dads and how to stop conflict from escalating, plus many more useful tips and strategies for making the most of your time with your children from little ones to teenagers. They provide tea, coffee and a fun and friendly atmosphere. Booking is essential. Please see the attached flyer for further details.

In the meantime, I am sure that mothers and fathers alike are feeling the strains of their children preparing for their examinations. Here at school, Year 9 and Year 12 have finished theirs, whilst for those taking public examinations, the schedule is just beginning. I hope the girls (and parents!) are keeping healthy and rested at this challenging time.

Yours faithfully

Clare Wagner
