Watford Grammar School for Girls is an academic, over-subscribed school. In a recent Ofsted inspection the school gained "outstanding" (Grade 1) in all categories and was judged to be "an excellent school" where "the quality of teaching is excellent; results are outstanding and well above national averages".

Caretakers Required 

Full time – 37 hours per week x 52 weeks per year
Working hours between 7am & 6pm with a split shift
Salary £15,822 -£16,998
plus WGGS fringe allowance £806 (depending on experience)

We are seeking two flexible and motivated individuals to work as Caretakers at our local partner primary schools and also as required at Watford Grammar School for Girls. Duties will include opening and closing the buildings, repairs, cleaning and ensuring site security.

A clean driving licence is essential, as is the ability to deal professionally with a varied range of contacts, including children, staff and contractors. Proven experience of maintaining buildings/grounds is desirable.

Are you at University?

Are you thinking about a career in teaching?

The Advanced Learning Alliance is offering school internships to prepare University Students for Teacher Training via School Direct. School Direct involves work based training with a bursary in certain subjects and a PGCE qualification. Observations will be offered in local Outstanding Schools.

We will support you to gain the most out of school internship by:

  • Offering support and mentoring to you throughout the Internship
  • Providing the opportunity to work with small groups and whole classes
  • Providing the opportunity for you to mentor sixth formers in preparation for their University application
  • Giving you the chance to take part in projects and activities
  • We will provide written testimonials and references for Interns who successfully complete the course, as well as comprehensive information on the School Direct route into teaching

Placements will be available in June and July 2015 and applications are now open.

We are particularly interested in Maths, Science, English and Modern Foreign Languages, however other subjects will be considered.

This group of schools is seeking to appoint well-qualified applicants to train as teachers through the School Direct (salaried and unsalaried) Programme for the academic year 2015-16.

Places are offered in a range of subjects but we particularly interested in:

Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
English
Modern Foreign Languages (French, German, Spanish)

Working in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, the schools can offer a high quality and comprehensive training programme. All schools have a proven track record in providing a stimulating and supportive environment for teacher training. Successful applicants will spend most of the week in school, with some time at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield.

Applicants are required to have a good degree in a relevant subject to the one they wish to teach. For the salaried route, 3 year career experience is a requirement. All candidates should have some school experience.
