WATFORD GIRLS' GRAMMAR PUPIL CELEBRATES BAFTA WIN

A pupil at Watford Grammar School for Girls is celebrating winning a BAFTA Award at the British Academy Children’s Awards 2019.

Maggie Fleet, a year 11 pupil at Watford Grammar School for Girls, won the BAFTA in the Factual category for the documentary she made with her grandfather, Stephen Frank.  Finding my Family: Holocaust (Newsround Special), followed Maggie’s grandfather, a Holocaust survivor, and his granddaughter on a journey to learn about his experiences.

Speaking about her award, Maggie said, “I was very shocked but amazed and delighted to win this award – and so proud of my Opa for telling his story to so many people.”

Recognising Maggie’s award, Miss Sylvia Tai, headmistress of Watford Grammar School for Girls, said: “This is a wonderful achievement and we are delighted for Maggie.  Her film provided a moving insight into the Holocaust and we are thrilled that it has been recognised by BAFTA.”
