HADESTOWN

Watford Grammar School for Girls – MAIN HALL, Watford, WD18 0AE
Wednesday 25th March 2026 – Friday 27th March 2026
Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Book your tickets here.
HADESTOWN  is the winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. Seen by three million, streamed by half a billion and adored by fans around the world. Watford Girls are delighted to be one of the first schools in the UK to be granted a performing licence for the Teen Edition.

HADESTOWN  takes you on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back, intertwining two ancient greek mythic love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice and King Hades and his wife Persephone, set against a unique musical score rooted in American folk and New Orleans Jazz & Blues. We have an extremely talented cast, crew and orchestra of over 50 students bringing this show to life.

The success of the productions at Watford Girls continues to grow, after winning the ‘Best Actress in a Musical award’ at the National School Theatre Awards in 2024 and then being invited to perform at the awards ceremony in the West End in June 2025. We hope you’ll join us once again to head Way Down Hadestown.

The school car park will be open on a first come first served basis for a £2 charge. All proceeds will go directly to the School Production Fund.

The National Theatre Awards

Our students have been recognised by the National School Theatre Awards, with Sara T-H (class of 2025) winning Best Actress in a Musical in 2024 for her role as Gomez in the Addams Family and the cast of SIX! being invited to perform at the 2025 awards ceremony at the Gillian Lynne theatre in the West End.

How you can support us

Offering these opportunities is expensive and we fundraise extensively to ensure we can continue to do so. Fundraising also enables us to purchase costumes and props as well as assisting with updating the lighting system.

Your donation will enable us to continue to give students the opportunity to be a part of future school productions. If you wish to donate to the school production fund you can do so below:
